Exercise can be Simple

Exercise is a personal experience, it’s all about you. On the surface you may have the same needs and wants as someone else but your path to success will be uniquely yours. It is determined by you, your body, your goals, your motivation, your time and the realism of how it will fit in to your life. With exercise you are in control, but where do you begin?

Start by setting a goal. Have a clear vision of where you want to go and what you want to achieve. You need to be specific with you knowing exactly what your end result is. Your goal also needs to be measurable and realistic. Once you know this, you can then set an appropriate time frame for meeting your objective.

Then decide the how. How will you get to your goal? Decide what it is that you enjoy and like to do physically. Weight training, biking, walking, gardening, swimming, dancing, lawn bowling and golfing are some options but you need to make sure that your chosen exercise is one that you want to do.  By choosing an exercise that you enjoy, you are more likely to incorporate it in to your lifestyle and stick with it. Keep in mind that you want to focus your exercise activity toward getting you to achieve your goal.

Now let’s do. Decide how much time you can set aside each week to participate in your chosen exercise activity. Schedule times to exercise by making appointments with your self. At the end of each day track the number of minutes and hours you have exercised on a calendar and add them up. Note the grand total at the end of each week knowing that you have done your best. Challenge yourself to increase the total exercise time for the following week and be consistent. Take your chosen activity, do it and do it often. But most of all remember to have fun!
