The Kendo Federation of
Trinidad & Tobago hosted the first
international Kendo seminar and tournament in the country the weekend
of March 22. Guests from Aruba, Venezuela and the USA participated in 6
training sessions directed by Daniel Ebihara sensei (7-dan, USA). "The
event was a resounding success, our guests were very satisfied with
their experience here and praised the T&T team's skills" says Eddy
Devisse, President of the Kendo Federation of T&T. |

Training was intended to re-inforce the basic skills as well as some advanced techniques for the region's top practitioners of Japanese Fencing. Individual and team tournaments were held on Saturday that saw Eloy Arends (Aruba) win in individuals and Guillermo Auvert (Venzuela) and Alejandro Castillo (Aruba) win the team tournament. Following a third place finish last year in last year’s Caribbean and Central American Cup in Columbia the T&T team is preparing for the upcoming tournament in Caracas in October 2008, and this event no doubt helped all participants in that preparation. The Kendo Federation of Trinidad & Tobago is the only organization recognized internationally by the Japanese Kendo Federation and other Federations around the world. |
